Daisy And David Poem by Mary Champion

Daisy And David

Daisy did the dishes,
David manned a till,
they both made fervent wishes
for someone who would fill

the void in their existence,
to bring them love and bliss,
begged Cupid for assistance,
to find sweet passion's kiss.

Just when it seemed the darkness
would swallow all their dreams,
fate that seemed so heartless
stepped up behind the scenes.

The dishes were afflicted
with grease and grime and more -
she needed Fairy Liquid.
She hurried out the door.

She sprinted up the high road
to the Tesco Local store,
and as he scanned the barcode,
Dave looked at her and saw

two laughing eyes that sparkled
and won his lonely heart.
In six months they were married
and they vowed they'd never part.
