Dark Side Poem by Justin Tang

i'm from the dark side
but i'm one of the lucky ones

yes i've even had darkness
rolling through my veins
like thick sludge in a sewer
i've had darkness grab and hug
me like a nightmarish black bear
but i'm one of the lucky ones

i've got a ticket to heaven
just a little piece of paper
smaller than my thumb
yet it means everything
more than the world

no one can work their way to heaven
the darkness cannot switch on a light
the imperfect cannot become perfect
but the perfect can change us somehow
