Daylight Savings Time Poem by L MILTON HANKINS

Daylight Savings Time

I recall when a day was a day -
When sunrise, sunset came as Mother Nature avowed
Time was as regular as the four seasons allowed.

Then politicians, in their infinite wisdom, decided
Daylight Savings Time was a fantastic idea
For every trivial situation a clever panacea.

Spring forward, fall backward, a way to remember
Laborers have more hours of daylight each day
Children have less time in the evenings to play.

Be sure to adjust your timepieces if you have not
To save an hour here, or lose an hour there
Whatever, it all seems to me, a lot of hot air!
