Dear Heart Of Mine Poem by Leah Jeanne

Dear Heart Of Mine

Dear Heart of Mine,
You disgust me!
I will listen to you no longer.
Your place on my sleeve exists no more.
You fight these battles with my head,
Only to get yourself broken.
Your pieces don’t even fit together anymore.
It’s time for you and your pieces to go back where you belong.
Back to your cage, behind your solid bars.
Oh, but this time… oh, this time…
You will not escape.
I will lock you in with chains of steel and throw away the key.
You will not see the light of day
Or the shadows of night.
And for every word of “advice” you give,
I will add another layer of lead to your encasement.
I will add layer upon layer until you are well and truly smothered.
I will hear your screams and your cries no more.
You are dead to me.
Oh, so loving Heart of Mine-
You will stop this foolishness, once and for all.
Oh, so loving Heart of Mine-
You are cold and dead.
A mere shell of what once was.
And in place of you, I will add one more mask
In your place, the Mask of Contentment.
You will plead and beg with anguished tears
But this new mask will deafen those cries.
I listen no longer.
You exist no longer.
