Dear Robert - Poem by Suki Nakamura
i am not God
i am not even an angel
i am not even someone that you can mind at all.
i am not a thing, but sometimes the world looks and treats me that way.
a piece, a shot, a toast,
an anacrusis, a dirge, a song,
an animal, a fungus,
a mole, a lock of hair, a note to remember,
a memorandum of an ordinary day,
a work list,
a thyme, an onion peeling itself in the kitchen
a sharp knife,
so many, do not tempt me into what i am not,
i know, what, who, and where
