Death Of My Heart Poem by Rima Kane

Death Of My Heart

I gave freely of me
Never asking for much
Just a shoulder to cry on
or a soft, tender touch

Never was I perfect
taking most of the blame
but mattered, it not
to my heart you laid claim

Waking in fear
Wondering of my fate
The roller coaster continued
Would today be the day?

The tears, they did flow
as the answer became clear
I heard nothing at all
Which was the worst of my fears

My heart resides behind walls
which nothing can pass
Shriveled to blackness
The die has been cast

You got what you wanted
You've all played a part
It's the beginning of the end
of the death of my heart

(2009)
