Death's Knees Will Bend Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Death's Knees Will Bend

Telephones ring both night and day
Letters come through the door
Another loved one’s passed away
We’ll see on earth no more

We’ve Brothers, sisters, husbands wives
A child or friend grown old
Such are the scenes of normal lives
Its nature! So we’re told

But praise The Lord their battle’s won
Praise God for Calvary Tree
Thank God for Jesus Christ His Son
Who’s blood had set us free

Such times we utter silent prayer
Recalling moments passed
That precious time we had to share
Not knowing twas the last

Twas just last week or yesterday
We saw their smiling face
We saw them kneel we saw them pray
With lives adorned with grace

One day to Christ death’s knees will bend
When every race is run
We’ll greet again both kin and friend
Saved loved ones long since gone

For though for them we’ll grieve a while
From heart and soul we’ll cry
Yet one day soon again we’ll smile
As guaranteed on high

Thank God for hope for peace of mind
For faith and joy untold
Thank God death’s chains no longer bind
The sheep of Jesus’fold
