Death's Mark Poem by Jennifer Petty

Death's Mark

Now that I know grief
Nothing will ever
Be the same.
This I know
Never before has an ache
Of this magnitude
Consumed my heart.

I think I am actually
Feeling my heart
Break.

How can it be real?
How can anyone live
With such sorrow
Filling them up?
