Diplomatic Genocide 2
Beneath the soil where riches run,
The oil of Shell-BP was claimed.
In Whitehall halls, the web was spun,
While Lagos fired and Biafra flamed.
To keep the state and ledger whole,
The sovereign crown chose unity's toll.
With secret ink and heavy freight,
The ships of Wilson crossed the sea,
To tip the scales of mortal fate
And crush the dream of liberty.
They called it just a police action,
A brief arrest of rebel faction.
But borders drawn by ledger lines
Became a wall around the weak.
Where hunger reaped the dark designs,
And skeletal ghosts could scarcely speak.
A million starved beneath the sun,
Enforced by blockades, gun by gun.
When global conscience woke to grief,
And public fury shook the state,
They sent observers for relief
A shield to mask the empire's weight.
To wash the blood from corporate hands,
And hide the truth in burning lands.
The ledgers cleared, the oil still flows,
But history keeps the count of tears.
Beneath the peace that silence blows,
The ghosts of Biafra haunt the years.
Sixty year later, Nigeria is still searching the years
The smoke of divide and rule still blows
Still searching for the elusive peace
Peace they will not find, because they search deceptively. Deceptive and absent oneness, crucified on a broken altar,
Alter- starved by kwashiorkor on the alter of oil and gas.
Trust murdered, when the army was forced to fight its own,
Leaving a scar that time refuses to erase.
What the Igbos saw sitting in the Obi sixty-seven years ago
The hunger, the blockade, the betrayal of brotherhood
Nigerians are only truly understanding now,
When we fought sixty six in their twenty twenty-six.
Just another diplomatic genocide, no remix.
