Dirty By: Taylor Donnelly Poem by Taylor P. Donnelly

Dirty
By: Taylor Donnelly

Look what you left me a kingdom of broken dreams

Look what you left to be remembered by

Its dirty and decayed

Complicated and delayed

This is what we become the cliches

The brutal truths and the swept a side days

I feel too young for this intimate disaster

I feel too young to fall this far after

Maybe it was a fantasy but i remember trees here

Growing fields blooming possibilities

Now the artificial lights keep me up at night

Chase the stars from my eyes

Where is my childhood did it already pass

Was it sudden or did it last

What is it but the cruel intention

What is this but a cruel invention

Maybe it was wishful thinking but i remembered trees here

Blooming to pretty now disappear

Cement laid wild love tamed

It is what we are destroyers of the worst kind

The evil is in our bodies

But worse so in our actions

We crave destruction

We crave disruption

Maybe it was a dream but i remember trees here

Plastic and glass

Metal and metallic shine

How am i to clean this up you dirtied it

You should be the one to get your hands dirty for it

It all for you

In the end its here

In the end its a sphere

I could have sworn there were trees here
