Discordant Pieces Poem by Mary Champion

Discordant Pieces

Their family homes are built of solid brick -
each bit square cut to fit-
a perfect match -
each line
clearly defined - no misfit found.

Surveying the ill-fitting parts, that fate
has given me, what chance I can create
a wall as strong as theirs?
No pairs look quite the same.
How can I make a structure that won't fall?
I need the skills to build a dry-stone wall.
