Flood
Here
are rain-filled days,
interminable clouds.
Darkness disfigures the morning sky,
the outcome of a still-born sunrise.
As I stumble through the swirling rubble,
my feet slipping and sliding,
I know well it is pointless.
There is no hiding from the end of the world.
We are drowning in this sodden maelstrom of life.
Fire
There
is relentless sunshine,
interminable drought.
Fire fills the morning sky
where the sun never sets.
As I stumble across the desert,
my feet sinking in the sand,
I know well it is pointless.
There is no hiding from the end of the world
We are seared in life's lethal radiation.
And Everywhere
Our Moon beats a hastier retreat,
withdrawing from the scene of horror
at Earth's last rattled breaths.
The old world is dying
as the new world is born.
