Do You Smile Now? Poem by R. Ariffin

Do You Smile Now?

Do you smile now?
When skies are finally clear
From the torment of my image at every doorstep
Haunting your mind with the possibility of a knocking
That would put all lies and truth into perspective
With just an opening of a door
And consolation of a smile
Returned by the gesture of a kiss
That was never meant to be

Are you at ease now?
Knowing that hatred and disappointments
Are now just ornaments of nothingness in display
Resting in between the soul and heart
A heart discolored and tasteless to the seam
With bruises that won't heal
And memories that won't leave
Immersed into an ocean of hope
Left to drown with no love to breathe
