Doing My Father’s Will Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Doing My Father’s Will

Though shadows crawl and tempests blow
Though waves reach to the sky
Fending myself against the foe
I’ll seek God’s face on high

What should I fear why should I care
What darkness has in mind
I’ve Jesus Christ, His promised share
And eyes no longer blind

Fighting lion and wriggling asp
I’ve Heaven Flame within
I’m far beyond the devil’s grasp
No more can Satan win

There’s countless more with eyes to see
With hearts and souls alight
Beautiful creatures Christ set free
To fight the righteous fight

I’m more than blessed to be among
The army of my Lord
A member of The Saviour’s throng
Who’ll flee the coming sword

I’ll raise my hands I’ll raise my voice
With heart and soul aglow
I’ve made God’s way my only choice
Forward in Christ I’ll go

I’ll go enriched yet worldly poor
In strength yet weak and frail
Through faith in Christ made quick and sure
Darkness will surely fail

However rough the beaten track
However stile life’s hill
I’m Heaven bound and won’t look back
Doing my Father’s will
