Don't Wait Until I'm Dead Poem by ART PAUL SCHLOSSER

Don't Wait Until I'm Dead

Don't wait until I'm dead
to come and visit me
Don't wait for my funeral
When I can't hear or see
Your beautiful face
Your voice so pretty
Or smell your flowers
And hear your jokes so witty

How will we dance
If you wait until I'm dead
A corps can't hug you
Or cut you a slice of bread
I won't be able to play you a song
Or paint your nails red
How will we play checkers or cards
When I'm under a flower bed

So if you're really my friend
Visit me while I'm a live
So we play some music
Or talk about some jive
Let's take a trip to some other city
And have some special pie
Come spend some time together
Before the long good bye
