Dreams Called Shadow Poem by Indigo Rose Christman

Dreams Called Shadow

Rating: 2.0

The world is fuzzy at the edges
Every sound is muffled
A film is what I’m viewing
But this film is what I‘m in
It seems so real
I mistake it for life
Until everything fades to gray
And the streams of sunlight
Through my window
Dance across my face
It is then that I remember
How bright colors are
How loud the world really is
Scents are what I remember
Exuberant flavors
I see whirl pools of dust
Dancing, twirling in the air
Singing birds, grumbling cars, laughing wind
The world hums with life
The faded scent of soap on my pillow
How could I have forgotten
How did that silly dream
That shadow of true life
Convince me it was truth?
Yet the dream still lingers
It makes me yearn for more
I awake to something pure
But long for its shadow
Someday in the future
I will close my eyes
And dream everlasting
And I wonder
Will I remember?
