Dreams In A Jar

DREAMS IN A JAR
by Lagstein

I stashed my dreams in a jar
meant someday to have them open
without air, my dreams faded
so I had to dream all over again

I put my new dreams in the sun,
exposed, no shade, out in the open,
they desiccated without protection
so I had to dream all over again

kept my dreams closed to my chest
they come and go at my behest
without resolve my dreams perished
dreams alone wont grant me a crest

so I stopped the dreaming altogether
started toiling with my hands
with assured stroke,
infallible movement,
destiny yielded to what I want

we build a house
by laying a brick
we get a quilt
by steadfast weaving
dreaming is good
but doing is better
so why be a dreamer
when you can be your fate's master
