Dry Lakes Poem by Xiao Tan

Dry Lakes

Remember to cry
when times are right
because dammed-up tears are like rain
in blackish clouds
draped over the sky
and flooding down
at inopportune times.
When the eyes are moist
let the hands be still
or else something wondrous
is stiffled and killed
because waterless we are like barren fields
revealed.
