Ecosystem Destruction(Climate Change) Poem by Joseph Sakyiamah

Ecosystem Destruction(Climate Change)

It was all beautiful when it was first formed;
Love out of sacrifice it was made of;
We recall, it was love at first sight;
So beloved when God made it our home.

A root of divine purpose, sweet and beautiful as a newborn child,
A space of safety, within its walls was so hopeful,
Until lately we have fallen like dew on the ground,
Wet moisture that disappears.

Our songs now sing sorrowfully because it has become a curse,
We ourselves have lectured nature,
A subject that we claim as climate change,
None of its status is good for our future generations.

Its dimensions are like a cold wind without merit or mercy,
Triggering panic attacks as there's a change in the atmosphere,
Creating fear in souls, gnashing teeth with emotions, as eyes reflect notions,
Seeing oceans warming and becoming more acidic, making us sick.

Ice caps are melting, volcanoes erupt, sea levels rising, making our ecosystem deplete,
Losing its originality, making nationalities devalue,
As our grounds are now filled with overfishing, deforestation, and greenhouse gases,
Causing too much discharge of carbon dioxide into the air.

Now limiting the oxygen we breathe, enabling us to be relieved from dangerous diseases.
So I tell humanity, for once, not to destroy the ecosystem with our bare hands but to protect and build it well,
So we can sustain a living for ourselves and future generations,
Let the ecosystem be free, and we'll pay a price at our own expense.
