Eden Was But A Shadow Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Eden Was But A Shadow

Thank God for His seasonal rain
Enabling life to grow
Here, there, again and again
We'll harvest what we sow

This! means not only, what we need
We plant covered with earth
We should remove thistle and weed
Strangling fruits, of worth

But alas! by no means always
Graceful, love's labour planned
Most foolishly, these latter days
Deceit fouls fertile land

Be truthful now, is this you too?
Have you practiced any good?
Doing what love's forbidding you
Have you ever, understood?

Neglecting earnest tender care
Love touch, you hesitate
Will benefits you share?
Will life congratulate?

Open your eyes, begin to see
Selfishness is leading
God is not mocked, nor will He be
Devilment conceding

Yet even now, it's not too late
Though The Sowers work is done
Arise! no more procrastinate
Salvation must be won

Take hold Life's Plough. take up Life's Hoe
Take care of Heaven's seed
Be real careful, where, how, you go
Follow Christ Jesus' lead.....
