Ember Poem by Indigo Rose Christman

Ember

Dancing in the street light
With the rain on my face
Bloody, raw feet
Pound on the ground
Mutilated flesh
Skipping across the stone
Numb to the pain
But tears pour down
Hair pasted to my face
I look like a demon
Risen from hell
Tortured in fire
Tortured in soul
Red hot embers
Still on my heart
I can feel their touch
Their consuming flame
Blocking out the pain
Of my body’s slow death
For there is nothing left in life
But dancing in the street light…
