Emotion Poem by Allison Barnett

Emotion

I'm ready, so ready
to release the beasts I master
A sloitary prompt will open the floodgates
to drown all those in the torrents path
A milennia of emotions crash and tumble
Snarling and Snapping at my throat
But this time, when patience tries to calm them,
they obey
At first I am shocked, but as I listen,
anger reveals the secret to my enigma
The time has come for their release
The key has been found and they know not even I
can contain their destruction
With one word, one syllable, one letter
The dust rises from the crumpled walls
They have escaped
Finally, they are free
