Empty Little Vessels Poem by Amy J Richardson

Empty Little Vessels

Empty little vessels,
Bottles with nought inside,
Nothing yet to make you,
And nothing yet to guide.

So, fill your minds with study,
Ideas, interest, awe,
Note everything around,
And wonder what it's for.

Fill your hearts with kindness,
Brimful with warmth and love,
See the hate and darkness,
And raise yourselves above.

Fill your eyes with visions,
Of nature's every sight,
Wondrous architecture,
And every starlit night.

Fill your ears with sounds,
Music, voices, birds,
Hear the song around you,
And remember all the words.

Fill your stomachs often,
Eat food with great delight,
Taste dishes of the world,
And savour every bite.

Fill your lungs so deeply,
With fresh air every day,
Let the wind blow through you,
And steal your breath away.

Fill your lifelong journal,
With stories to be told,
And memories and moments,
To revisit when you're old.

But now as empty vessels,
Take experiences new,
To fill your little bottles,
And develop into You.
