Epitaph - Poem by Johan Herman Wessel

I, the late Owe Gierløv Meyer,
Did stupid things my life entire,
Though this time I did five of them,
The last of which was quite a gem;
For I went home and cut my throat,
And here I sit, in Hell’s deep moat,
Where now the devil sets on fire
Me, the late Owe Gierløv Meyer.
