Epitaph For A Cat Poem by Tracy WatsonBrown

Epitaph For A Cat

Bare lies the mat on which you sat
and the chair you scratched.
Your claws retracted
Permanently and yet
Fleas still eat me and
a faint whiff of wee
Reminds me that, though flat,
You now roam free
Having left your mark on me.
