Estrangement. Poem by Adrian Wait

Estrangement.

Born of misunderstanding
And turned into fact

Estrangement is a weapon
Of stealth

It begins with a fracture
A wilful act

Feeding on punctured pride
Enemy of health

A forever hanging shadow
Reasons long spent

Adversary of Forgiveness
Parasite within

Storing up regrets of words
Left unspoken, not sent

Estrangement a weapon
Pride is the Sin

A destroyer of peace
The father of lies

Estrangement is a weapon
A usurper of time

The folly of self-deception
A breaker of all ties

Word left unspoken, fractured
No rhythm no rhyme

Folly of follies… this thorn
…in the Heart.

Estrangement.
