I seek no reason for this dwelling place,
Nor do I yearn to wander far beyond.
I chase no causes, trace no hidden thread—
I am the loom, the weaving, and the weaver.
Each thought I turn becomes a vow:
I was not born of elsewhere.
I was here,
I am here,
I will be here.
I wear no borrowed mask,
No shifting guise.
Beneath all veils—
Beneath the skin,
Beyond the skin—
The same flame burns, unshadowed.
I do not struggle to reclaim my soul;
Though robed in fragile skin and form,
Its song endures unchanged within—
Save when the mists of illusion rise.
I love myself in silence and in form,
Yet grieve the fleeting hour
I stumble into the mirage of two.
And though that mirage may blaze,
Fierce and bright,
I deny its trembling empire.
For my faith in unity is unshaken,
And it disarms the listening heart—
Even when I speak
In the tongue of Alast.
