Everything Is Falling Away Poem by Andrus Cassian

Everything Is Falling Away

Everything is falling away
The pages are torn, the ink spilled
the pencil broke, the pen can't be found
Where is the sound
The magic is over
Everything is falling away
Too much is on my mind
and I can't block it out
I'm worrying about things I can
barely comprehend
I can feel the end
I see the bridge about to burn
but I still want to hold on
I'm drifting in silence
There's a few instances
when I smile
but other than that
my heart is a clenched fist crying bloody tears
punching holes in the wall
Everything is falling away
It's hard seeing new days
when your foot is still stuck in yesterday
I want to say
I'm over it, done with it
but my mind still lurks
through the destruction
trying to find what's worth salvaging
The severed ties now, the thread I'm hanging from
that can't support my weight
Woe is me
Break me and leave me to walk in peace
this wolf with a rose in its teeth
I just need some time to think
I just need to take a little breather
