Holding secrets, waiting to be unveiled anew
A symbol of power, strength and grace
The evolution of black, let us embrace
From the depths of the earth, it first arose
A canvas for nature's beauty to compose
A hue of mystery, longing to be seen
Black, the color of the night, so serene
Cloaked in darkness, it stood proud
A shade of royalty, never to be cowed
From ancient times, it reigned supreme
A color of elegance, a color of esteem
From the ebony specks in the sky above
To the midnight robe of the mighty dove
Black, a color of contradictions, yet so strong
With every passing day, its legacy prolongs
In the early days, it was shrouded in fear
A color of the unknown, drawing people near
But then it became a symbol of resistance
A source of hope, a symbol of persistence
From the chains of slavery, it broke free
A beacon of hope for the oppressed to see
It rose from the ashes with newfound pride
A color of liberation, never to hide
