Eyeto Eye Poem by Boudhayan Mukherjee

Eyeto Eye

I've tried different ways
of looking at you
With one eye winking, twin eyes
staring at you with a third one
That both of us have not seen.

Eyes meet each other and melt with sorrow
eye's eyelids droop down with shame
Eyes shed tears, erupt volcanoes of anger

Love eyes, lonely eyes, eyes dead
in morgues, eyes
Of elephants and deer, tigers
are either round, lip shaped,
they're brown, black or grey- -

I saw a girlfriend's eyes
Glowing in darkness, and fainted
in fear
because I thought of cats
But when she switched on the brazen lights above
her eyes turned soft and smooth.

We don't see eye-to-eye
But what does it mean actually?
