Fair And Lovely Poem by Avereen Kushi

Fair And Lovely

Rating: 2.5

Let me whisper into you ears,
the deep desire that you feel too ashamed to say out loud.
The desire that you have always wanted, but know that you cannot get.
Let me take you on a dance, my darling.
The one where you tango with the idea
the idea of having a different skin color.
I can do that for you, my love.
All you have to do is say yes, and apply me darling.
In one quick sweep, in one quick moment, in one quick application
I can grant you your deepest desire,
the desire that was embedded in you from birth.

I am the bleaching cream that your mom handed to you.
I am the cream that can grant you your wish.
I am the one answer that you have been looking for.
I will always be the constant reminder that your dark skin is disgusting.
I am the constant reminder that whatever you do,
you will never be enough.
You think you can escape me?
Oh, try again darling, because wherever you go,
I will always be there.
you will never be enough.
You think you can escape me?
Oh, try again darling,
