Faithful To Itself - For Winnie Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Faithful To Itself - For Winnie

I

Each day seems faithful
to itself. As
the sun rises
it shines upon the
sea. Walking beside
the aloes in your garden
you smile quietly.
Sunlight flutters its feathers
in the bowl of the fountain.

II

Friends have come and gone.
Rain beats
down alone, hopeless,
on the castaway sea.
Far away the sunlight flies
beyond the mountain
searching for a green
twig on the dark water.
