Your title alone shows one of your poem's main themes: there will be pain and effort involved in whatever we cherish and pursue. Recovery is long and hard but the desire makes love irresistable. I saw a movie in which a woman was afraid to love again, and a decent man said to her, Of course, your heart has been broken, our hearts are meant to be broken, That's how we learn to value love. Your poem affirms love at the same time it details the problems. The affirmation isn't wide eyed optimism. Ir's a quiet subliminal awareness that love is where we belong, and we won't give up. We will find it or it will find us. Is that a guarantee? No, but it's a reasonable hope.
