Fame Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

Fame

Rating: 5.0

Fame, oh sweet fame
A double-edged sword, so they claim
For some, it brings riches and glory
But for others, it's a different story
To be richly infamous, a curious fate
To have the world at your feet, but to also hate
For the adoration of the masses to be yours
But with it, comes judgment, and constant wars
Money and power, a potent mix
But in the eyes of society, you are just a fix
A pawn in their game of entertainment
A target for their harsh judgment
Your name echoes in every corner
But does it truly bring joy or just disorder
For every praise, there is a critic's voice
For every love, there is a choice
To be famous, they say, is to be free
But seen through the eyes of those like me
It's a cage, a prison of vanity
An illusion of happiness, a false reality
But still, we chase after this elusive dream
To be richly infamous, to be seen
For in a world that values material wealth
We strive for fame, to gain some self-worth
Oh fame, you are a fickle lover
Promising happiness, but giving us never
For in your arms, we may bask in the limelight
But in our hearts, we still long for what is right
So let us not be blinded by your false allure
For true happiness, it's not the ultimate cure
Let us find contentment in the simple things
And not be consumed by the desire for fame's wings.
In the end, it's not the glitz and glam
But the love and laughter that make us who we are
So let us not chase after fame or riches
For it's the simple joys that truly enriches.
