Farewell Fighter Poem by Andrus Cassian

Farewell Fighter

Foreign is this simple sound escaping my breath, filling the room in excess
Am I sick, am I alone in here; the sound resonates an echo I can't place
Renovating the airspace like it belongs, a familiarity
Existing in this singular instance, a mimic of a repetitive action heard everyday
Well wishing, is it the wish that finally came true
Even though that wish was made five odd years ago
Liar, liar don't lie to me my own cryptic thoughts
Lullaby me, sway me softly to soothe the growing chaos in my mind
For I have been deaf since age 11
Ignite this fire which laid dormant, for I've felt unbalanced, inescapable silence
Go liar doctor, make another promise to me you'll never keep
Hear me with my hands since you can't hear me with my voice
Tell me what on earth is this static coming through clearly
Everyday I.....hear....I can....hear....
Resonating through my room, I noticed....it's been...me...laughing, crying; I can hear
