Faridat Poem by Kolawole Emmanuel

Faridat

Faridat!

Dedicated to my beautiful Hausa girl

Your soulful smile from that humble base,
Where love and purity has took a place,
And affections in your modern ways,
Your gentle lips my eyes would trace,

And your enticing look is a blessed grace,
I feels am touched by the sweet angels,
To have you here with me always,

Faridat' you're sweeter than a ripe mango,
Albeit am colder than the morning snow,
You still placed yourself on the go,
Of my loveful water flow,
Is this love i have just seen and know?
A feeling that gives sadness a blow,
Sinking into my brownish bone marrow,
With assurance of a better tomorrow,

This day marks your first day,
On this side and in my warmth bay,
Let's fill it with sweet remember-able gay,
We've paid the price we ought to pay,
Parents has accepted and the leader has pray,
I am assured that peace will come and stay,
Together with us from today,
So Faridat wipe your coyness away.
