Fatal Attraction Poem by Mary Champion

Fatal Attraction

I am but a feeble man -
a pathetic pawn in a game I can't win.
Women intimidate me
with their honeyed words -
all silk and Satan -
just self-serving lies
I can't help believing.

In the hands of the fairer sex
I am a spineless cretin
and they find that irresistible.
I draw them to me
as a magnet attracts a bevy of iron filings.
They cluster around me
in their ordered ranks
until I am nothing but a faint silhouette
in an overcrowded life.
