Fertile Ground Poem by Eric Rhodes

Fertile Ground

My love, we have been
apart for to long.
Guide me from the dark forest
with your whispers.
I am a cauldron boiling over
yet I beg you
to turn up the heat,
so that I may become
steam and soulfully rise
to your touch.
I am deluded,
my vision shaken
from the longing
and you are there
on the periphery,
yet I cannot grasp you.
Oh, Such games,
played with my feeble spirit
scarifying me
like a fir cone in forest fire.
I Am ready, my love,
for the fertile ground
you have prepared
for my growth.
