Finding My Way Poem by Ken Barrett

Finding My Way

I was stuck in a crippling haze,
Just like rats in a burning maze.
All my walls were closing in,
I couldn't escape my own sin.

Show me a way,
To a better day.
Help me break free,
From this world I see.

As my thoughts were rotting my brain,
I feared that I would go insane.
I curled myself up in a ball,
Afraid of how far I would fall.

Show me a path,
Away from my wrath.
Help me break free,
From my tragedy.

Can I find my way out of here,
To some place that is free and clear.
I couldn't tell you where I've been,
Or all of the horrors that I've seen.

I've found a way,
To a better day.
I've broken free,
A new world I see.

Now I'm here with my thoughts all clear,
With an open mind and naught to fear.
As I have found a way to forgive,
With the freedom to begin to live.

Now on the right path,
Escaping all my wrath.
I have broken free,
A new hope for me.
