Finding My Way Poem by Melissa Bange

Finding My Way

Rating: 3.5

Yesterday is just a reminder for tomorrow
We're fickle for things
That are only things
And strangers to people
Who really matter

We are stronger than we think
When we have to be
Still we shatter
We bend to sin
Like fragil flowers

Persuade myself to think
My words can touch the soul
Maybe then I'll know
Through the tears and the hurt
There is hope

I'm surrounded by walls
That can either confine me
Or embrace and set me free

Searching for a way
To soften the burn
Without feeling torn

There's a line we draw
And then choose to cross
When the burden gets heavy
We sink under the weight
If only for a spell

Then we wake up one day
Tired of being a slave in chains
You start breaking links
Until you find freedom
From your own version of hell

Persuade myself to think
My words can touch the soul
That's when I'll know
Through the tears and the hurt
There is hope

I'm surrounded by walls
That can either confine me
Or embrace and set me free

Finding my way
Removing the burn
That made me feel torn
