F***ing Deceitful Poem by Mary Champion

F***ing Deceitful

When bluff king Hal was still a good RC
he sucked up to the Pope most cringingly,
declared that Luther was a heretic
and got his loyal pamphlet published quick.
The pope was mighty chuffed and made it known
no better king had e'er sat on a throne -
Defender of the Roman Cath'lic church
who'd knocked that German friar off his perch.
Fidei Defensor was the title
Henry won for his devout recital.
And to this day all British coin bears
The letters F and D and no one cares
that British monarchs cannot be RC,
although that's what the letters F & D
were won for in the first place, then revoked,
when Henry broke with Rome - would not be yoked
to someone who refused him a divorce.
But even though our monarch can't endorse
the faith for which he won that proud FD
they claim it still - such two-faced frauds they be.
