First Date Poem by tanesha davenport

First Date

Rating: 2.7

first date, anixous
my heart pounding of fear
the doorbell rings, nerves
because i wanna hold you near
there you are, standing
holding flowers in your hands
the daffodils and dadenlions, shaking
your nerves hoping i'll understand
there you go, smiling
nodding for me to follow you
here i go, moving
wondering what am i suppose to do
you take my hand, assuring
telling me everything is going to be alright
i walk with you, knowing
it's going to be a great night
