the sun was shining
as i stepped
away
from
the
hospital entrance.
heat was rising
higher
against
the day.
i walked thru the parking lot,
turned the corner
where
the
blue dumpster
sat in silence.
then,
i crossed
over
the bridge
between
the
fence posts
and
walked onto
the heat absorbing asphalt.
the bookstore
waited
patiently
as i walked
thru
the
rising heat,
i needed some relief.
