First-Time Insecurity Poem by Ipshita Chakraborty

First-Time Insecurity

Rating: 5.0

They ask me what I see in thee; I say

An endless sky and ocean mist

The reluctant time that causes delay

I clench thee with my heart and fist

The sweet nothings you whisper in my ear

Reminds me of women you once framed

In front of your naked worship for them,

My love for you lies scared and shamed

Each time thy eyes catch mine

I see in it what you felt for them

Innocent lust and violent craze

Obscene love and a starry gaze

Each time I see a sad flicker

I wonder how you smiled at your first

Those dancing flames made you burn

I am water; I quench your thirst

I claw at my skin to resist loving you

Lest your love blossoms and I remain a stem

I cower to send you great love poems

Lest you read my heart and think of them
