Flickered Shadows Poem by Asma Khan

Flickered Shadows

Your presence flickered in my life
after you decided to have this strife

The closest we could get was this
with you I felt no blessing no bliss

Leaving a bitter trail of memories
the emptiness shakes me with worries

Don't hold me accountable for all what happened
you left no place, no shade unblackened

I gave up everything to save your dignity
what I didn't mistake for, you call me guilty

Whether this flicker becomes the flame
you are mine, I'll never claim

Under a sky dotted with cold white fire
to die alone, I can only desire

The darkness of your eyes calls for a storm
your cold heart can keep nothing warm

Smoldering embers in front of me twist
writing arrival of a new tomorrow on my wrist!
