Followers Of The Religion Of Cowardice Poem by Shelby Barker

Followers Of The Religion Of Cowardice

We are faithful to company
and believing there is One greater than each of us
so we know we won’t be lonely

Crowds of Mass gather compassionately
to worship Thee, so selflessly just;
we are faithful to company

When arises the trepidation of mortality
we collect pieces of our love’s deceased dust
so we know we won’t be lonely

We kneel without hesitance or brevity
to ask for mercy - even while hushed,
we are faithful to company

Is it we believe in a land, eternally
full of love and hope and admiring-lust
so we know we won’t be lonely?

Our spiritual reasoning is claimed to exist solely
because Oh, in God we trust;
we are faithful to company
so we know we won’t be lonely
