Foolish Me Poem by Ashley Proulx

Foolish Me

Some days I feel unbreakable, other days I shatter like fallen glass.
These feelings are unmistakable but the past is in the past or so they say.
My emotions keep changing and doubts are racing, cluttering my once clear way of thinking,
How do I know for sure that I have moved on
How do I know that this is truly where my heart belongs.
How many sunrises will it take to heal this broken heart,
How much longer can I take this bitter fate that’s left me torn apart.
You took me for everything I am,
My will to think for myself, you stole my independence.
I was living off your broken promises basing my life on false advertisement.
No matter how much I tried no matter how many times I prayed and cried, it was never meant to be.
Oh foolish me…
Foolish me thinking that you really loved me when you never cared.
Oh foolish me….
Foolish Me….
