For a penny is just a token,
thoughts can cost a fortune.
Though words are only spoken
they can make hearts be broken.

For a penny, what can be bought?
Words that are spoken start where?
Each word begins in thought.
Where are thoughts but in the air to be caught?

Words start her,
in a place where some might fear.
The effect the size of a tear,
can make some people cheer.

For a penny what is bought?
for a penny what is sought?
Something that can be taught,
a penny for a thought.
