For You Poem by Saliu Muideen

For You

For you, I want to sing a song of rhyme
And I looked around for what to write
To see if I can make a lime
Of sweet Melody along the prime
But then I have to mime
To song of love across the chime.

I hope you'll not see this as a pride
If I call you to join me in my ride
To go with you on a longer stride
So that we flow along with the tide
And reach together beyond the wild
Even if it is far and more than wide
I'll be glad if you could stride along my side
For you I want to be my bride.

That I met you is just a grace
And I'll never leave you even by a pace
For with you I'll close the space
And for you I'll take the lace
Even if it involves a death race
I won't even care to take the trace
Because with you, I move from grass to grace.

With you I'll ride on the wings of winds
And together we'll go beyond the brink
Even if it happens with a blink
With you alone I make a clink
And so along we share a drink
Merrilly together we go to jinks
And here, my love I stopped the ink
For next time we'll meet at the rink.
