Forbidden Brotherly Love Poem by Franchesca Mia Tortoza

Forbidden Brotherly Love

'Everyone, we've something to say, '
Said a pair of twin brothers not a foot away
From the friends they'd hoped who would accept,
Their love for each other; their unusual respect.

'What is it that with everyone else, you wish to relate? '
Asked a dear friend—they were sure he was chosen by fate.
They all rescued one another, when each was sporting a sad frown,
They had stayed together to help turn those frowns upside down.

'We had wished to tell for quite some time,
About a love that is potentially old as rhyme, '
They said in unison, fearful looks on both their faces,
Hoping, praying their friends would give their graces.

'Why on earth would you both quiver out of fear?
We thought you knew—we'll always be right here, '
Related another, and at them he looked; he did smile,
'To be honest, we all have known for quite a while.'

Shocked and yet pleased that their friends approved,
Identical eyes stared at each other, their looks improved,
'I suppose, ' said one to his brother, 'we have the blessing of God above,
For others to so nonchalantly accept our forbidden brotherly love.'
